A new Kurdish institute bearing the name Lausanne has been officially established in Switzerland, aiming to promote and protect the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people.
The announcement was made on May 8 in the city of Lausanne, in coordination with members of the Kurdish diaspora in the country.
The institute will focus on Kurdish studies and research, with declared objectives that include advocating for the Kurdish right to self-determination, addressing demographic changes in Kurdish regions, and promoting international cooperation.
Organizers of the founding conference stated: “We chose this name and location to make a historical statement, referencing the signing of the 1923 Lausanne Treaty—which denied the existence of the Kurdish people and deprived them of their legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Kurdish state.”
