The Mêxekrêj Apple is one of the symbols of love in the culture of Kurdistanis. In February, on the occasion of Lovers' Day, Mêxekrêj Apple activities are held.
At the end of February 2026, in Switzerland, in the city of Lausanne, in cooperation with the Kurdish Institute of Lausanne, a Mêxekrêj Apple activity was held by Women of Kurdistan. At the activity, the president of the Kurdish Institute of Lausanne, Necat Zanyar, gave a speech. In his speech, Zanyar spoke of love and affection in Kurdish culture and read from classical Kurdish poems.
The activity took place through the making of the apples, food, and the recitation of songs and poems.
